Stinky in the Dark Forest
SYNOPSIS
Stinky is born from a flower into the Dark Forest. He explores it, growing in the process. When he takes on the responsibility of caring for another creature, he must come to terms with the fact that there is more to the forest than just fun and whimsy.
ABOUT DIRECTOR
Sunčana Brkulj was born in Zadar, Croatia. She got her BA and MA degree in Animation at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, graduating summa cum laude in 2022. Her BA film "I'M NOT FEELING VERY WELL" was selected in Annecy. In 2020, as her second student film, Sunčana made "The Tower", which was selected for Annecy, Animafest and OIAF. It recieved three awards, most notably "Best commissioned film" at Linoleum fest in Kiev, Ukraine. Both films have been exhibited at the Youth Salon in HDLU Zagreb, the most respectable exhibition of Croatian visual artists under the age of 35. In 2022, as a graduation film, Sunčana made "Stinky in the Dark Forest", which got several awards and selections at ITFS Stuttgart and Animafest Zagreb.
Sunčana has experience working for Adriatic Animation and Recircle studios in Zagreb.
Besides animation, Sunčana has published comics in the webzine KOMIKAZE and has put on a cycle of solo exhibitions titled "Inferno" between 2018. and 2020.
