SYNOPSIS
It has gotten colder is a animated short film from the letters and photos of the filmmaker's grandparents and tells of longing, stolen time and death. In the eighties, Frank has to do military service in the DDR, from where he writes daily letters home. The young couple seeks ways to deal with the longing and loneliness, but the time in the barracks remains lost lifetime and can not be retrieved even 30 years later.
ABOUT DIRECTOR
Paul Elia Zeißig is an animation filmmaker
from Germany and a student at the Bauhaus
University Weimar. He mostly works with
stop-motion technique or experimenting with
different analog animation media.
He worked 2019/20 at the tjg. Theater junge
Generation Dresden as part of a voluntary
social year and began his studies in
media arts at the Bauhausuniversität Weimar
in 2020 with a self-imposed focus on
animation.
April 2022 he completed the film Es ist kälter geworden, an animated short film about
his grandparents from Eibenstock in the east german Erzgebirge, grandpa‘s time
in the military in the DDR and grandma‘s sudden death.
This was followed in October by „Überall sonst“ an animated dialogue in space about
depression and isolation. The short film is also the first part of the future science
fiction miniseries SPOI.
Currently he is studying abroad at the LUCA School of Arts Brussels.
