Surrealism, Comedy, Black Humor, Tragicomedy
A bored kid at a beach notices a dead fish wash ashore which gives him the idea to bury it. However, things get absurd once the boy sets up an entire funeral service to give the fish a proper sendoff.
William Pak is an aspiring animation director who is a third-year animation student at Rhode Island School of Design, set to graduate in 2022. Will aims to integrate elements from his own childhood experiences and upbringing as a Korean-American into his work. He is very interested in stories revolving around family dynamics and his works often feature idiosyncratic, sympathetic introverts who are usually either children or the elderly. His junior fall semester film “Dead Fish” is inspired by an experience from his youth and it demonstrates his interest in tragicomedies that juxtapose childlike innocence with more mature subject matter.
